This Clip of Celine Dion Singing Backstage at the Grammys Will Make Your Heart Go On

Celine Dion's surprise appearance at this year's Grammy Awards (where she presented Taylor Swift with Album of the Year for Midnights) assured fans that their favorite superstar diva was doing well in the midst of her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome. And while Dion didn't perform that night, there were rumors that she had a little fun backstage, away from the Grammy camera crew.

Now, in an Instagram Reel posted by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sonyaé, fans can hear Dion sing live for the first time in what feels like eons. In the clip, Sonyaé and Dion perform an a capella duet. SZA and Victoria Monét, who both took home trophies that night at Crypto.com Arena, also make appearances in Sonyaé's post.

Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022 and has only made a few appearances since. She surprised fans when she and her sons attended a hockey game last winter and again when she attended the 2024 Grammy Awards. She announced that she would be releasing a documentary with Prime Video, I Am ... Céline Dion, that would give viewers a glimpse into her treatment and struggles with Stiff Person Syndrome.

Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that can cause muscle stiffness and painful spasms. Currently, there is no cure for Stiff Person Syndrome and doctors generally focus treatment on alleviating symptoms with sedatives, muscle relaxants, and steroids, according to Yale Medicine.
