No one shares a bond quite like sisters, and Dakota and Elle Fanning are a true testament to that. Aside from their red carpet hangouts (casual) and adorable Instagram tributes, the two have even started to dress alike (see: their coordinating Chanel).
On Monday, the siblings showed off their sister synchronization in matching all-black looks at the opening night of Broadway play Appropriate in New York City (hence the all-black ensembles). Elle opted for a black strapless dress from The Row that featured a blazer-style collar along the top and sleeves tied around the waist. The actress accessorized with Cartier jewelry and finished off the look with black patent leather ballet flats. The sleeveless nature of the dress showed off Fanning's tattoos along her arms. Her blonde hair was styled in a low. braided bun adorned with a black festive bow.
Her older sister Dakota took a different approach to the little black dress by pairing her long oversized coat with a matching maxidress that peeked out from underneath the duster. Her blonde hair was straight and parted down the middle, and she accessorized with coordinating black satin bucket bag and a couple of chunky gold rings.
Despite having a seemingly close-knit kinship, the duo still always manages to maintain their sense of individuality.
Case in point? Earlier this year, the sisters arrived to the same event wearing two very different looks. For The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo Power Stylists dinner, Dakota wore Loewe's viral red flower leather dress while Elle opted for a pinstriped vest-and-trousers set.
Earlier this year, Elle professed her sisterly love for Dakota with an Instagram birthday tribute. Elle addressed her gratitude towards her sister in the accompanying caption. "We had a moment last year, sitting on the couch and we looked at each other and you said, 'thank god I have a sister,'" she recalled. "I wouldn’t be able to do life without you, Cody! I love you 🪄🪩💕🧁."
