Ahead of Christmas and snow- and sugar plum-filled festivities for many people, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took to decidedly warmer environs ahead of the holiday. People reports that the former senior royals took their children, Lili and Archie, to Costa Rica for some island time. The Sussexes reportedly arrived on Dec. 14 and departed on Dec. 20, according to CRHoy.com. Their stops included Zapotal, Nandayure, and Guanacaste.
Though there was no official statement on the trip, the Costa Rican escape comes after a year of whirlwind travel for Meghan and Harry, who spent time in Dusseldorf for the Invictus Games and Portugal, which they visited in September. The couple also paid a visit to New York City and the Caribbean.
Last week, the duke and duchess shared their 2023 holiday card. The virtual message was sent via email from Archewell and didn't include a new image of the family or a cameo from Archie and Lilibet.
"We wish you a very happy holiday season. Thanks for all the support in 2023!" the card read. It also linked to the annual Archewell Foundation impact report, which included a video that showcased some of the good work that the organization did in the past year.
Markle has been quiet about the family's holiday plans, simply saying that she and Harry are “enjoying” the season with their kids. During an interview at Variety's Power of Women dinner, Meghan revealed that her entire family is "enjoying" these special times.
"Our little ones are little and we're enjoying every moment of it," she said.
